Images between the Optical and the Haptic: Performativity and Regimes of Sensibility

This article analyzes the relationship between visuality and tactility from a theoretical perspective that understands images as performative agents capable of intervening in the configuration of the real. The methodology combines a philosophical-hermeneutic approach with a conceptual analysis of contemporary image theory, in dialogue with the contributions of Georges Didi-Huberman, Jacques Derrida, Jean-Luc Nancy, and Catherine Malabou. As a principal finding, the study demonstrates that the image exceeds its representational function by producing effects of affection, contact, and sensory transformation, articulating optical and haptic dimensions within a single field of experience. It concludes that this performative power enables a rethinking of regimes of sensibility and opens a critical horizon in which the image operates as an instance of alteration, plasticity, and the production of alterity within the sensible.
