Abstract

Abstract. In the following lines I intend to make some considerations about the different meanings of the concept of participation. To that aim I will resort to some theoretical paradigms related to different models of educational policies. Particularly, I will resort to the classical distinction propounded by Albert O. Hirschman with regard to the typical ways of reestablishing lost balances, especially during moments of crisis of a particular relationship between public services providers and the beneficiaries of those services. Finally, and in the field of the management of education institutions, I will propose three dimensions of the concept of participation.
