Photography by Pablo Porciúncula
Abstract
"From the Window" series started as a game to make sense of an Instagram account that I had to open and to which I couldn't find any use for. Shortly after starting, it became an instrument to reflect on photography and glance.
The window from which I photograph frames the Plaza Independencia in Montevideo, where I work with other colleagues. Several of us took pictures from that point. Sometimes we coincide in the moment of taking the photos, but we never do so in the plane value, the type of frame or the center of interest.
Some of these colleagues —who know the series well— while standing at the window and even hand-helding the camera, have called me sometimes saying: "Look: there you have one of your photos".
Over time, our photographs give us clues about the way we look, about the themes or shapes that catch the attention of our eyes and that we cannot avoid photographing. The series, like this one, seem to show that in a powerful way.
