The journey
Traveling with the minimum to discover the most
“The past 19 years I have lived and worked in many countries.
Working as a photographer for agencies covering conflicts and
creating long term documentaries on social issues. Now, I’ve
decided to continue seeing the world, in a literal sense. I’ve
decided to load a Royal Enfield with the minimum necessary
things with the idea of going around the world. The possibility
of stopping or continuing, guided by my curiosity, without time
tables or timelines: the journey is the objective, more than any
destination, it gives me time to comprehend what I observe”

Walter Astrada was born in 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He started his career as a photographer at the local newspaper
La Nación. After a formative trip through South America, he
joined the Associated Press in Bolivia and later in Argentina,
Paraguay and Dominican Republic. In March 2006 he moved
to Spain from where he is working as a freelancer. Astrada
is jury of World Press Photo, an organization that has given
him three photography awards, and currently integrates its
group of instructors.
