Abstract. This article studies the liberality and gifts in general, and it later identifies the
different types of liberality which occur without complying with the established requirements
of the lawmaker. Special emphasis is laid on liberality within the framework of family law and law of succession. It is an attempt to untangle the applicability of the regulations when gifts are made to third parties or to one or more forced heirs.
