El uso de colorantes detectores de caries durante la preparación cavitaria: revisión y estudio por microscopía electrónica de barrido.

Resumen

Se investigó in vitro la especificidad de cuatro preparados detectores de caries,(fucsina básica en solución hidroalcohólica y en propilenglicol, rojo ácido en propilenglicol y pigmento verde FD&C en solución acuosa de glicol). Se realizó la eliminación de caries siguiendo los criterios táctiles y visuales y se aplicó el colorante en la cavidad. Se tomaron muestras de dentina de las zonas teñidas y no teñidas por el colorante. Estas fueron recubiertas con un film de oro de 50 nm y luego se examinaron con el auxilio de un microscopio electrónico de barrido, (MEB). La observación reveló la presencia de cantidades variables de barrillo dentinario
y determinó diversos grados de infección bacteriana, especialmente por cocos y bacilos, en las muestras excavadas por criterios ópticos y táctiles, así como en las teñidas por fucsina en propilenglicol y rojo ácido en propilenglicol. Las muestras excavadas con la guía de fucsina en solución hidroalcohólica o pigmento verde FD&C resultaron aparentemente libres de bacterias.
